Unemployment Fraud: What Can Employers Do to Stop UI Fraud?
The COVID-19 pandemic significantly increased the number of individuals who applied for unemployment. Because of the federal benefits provided to states during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in the number of individuals who have committed unemployment (UI) fraud for financial gain. As of February 2021, the SC Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) submitted a total of 2,855 unemployment insurance claims to state or federal authorities for investigation and prosecution for UI fraud. In this webinar, Demetrius Pyburn will discuss the employer’s role in stopping UI fraud, reporting tips and other COVID-19 unemployment updates.
